Thread: Sampras VS Federer, who is stronger?

Sampras didn't really feel sorry for Federer. What he was actually doing was trying to take something away from Federer's greatness.
He was trying to say something like this:
"My Grand Slams are worth more than yours because I played against tougher opponents!"

I don't believe that for a moment. Federer is playing againts opponents just as tough as those that Sampras played against, but because Federer is so much better than them it looks like they are low quality players.

Tiger Woods is doing the same thing in golf now. The golf players are just as good as they were 10 or 20 years ago, it's just that Tiger is so much better than most of them that it looks like the players are weaker now.

I look at Agassi in a similar way to the way I look at Nadal. They both have what I consider 'ugly' styles of playing tennis. Both rely on brute force to get the job done.
I much prefer players who use finesse and grace on the court.

Federer is such a joy to watch because he is as smooth as silk on the court. Everything he does looks effortless. I also enjoy watching players who think and use different strategies on the court, like a chess game.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Nadal's or Agassi's success. They both are extremely talented players and deserve what they have earned. I just generally don't enjoy watching them play, that's all.  :)
