The Landlady, Mrs. Yu was there at the door to greet me with a toothless grin and a warm hung with her huge fishmonger arms.
“Are you the new Dictator” she asked, in the local dialect.
“No, I have just come to pave the way for the chosen one and the cabinet” I replied, using her language, a strange mixture of Mandarin, Parsee and Strine.

No wonder they had been forced to advertise for the job, I thought, this place is an absolute dump.
But maybe Bob was right with his hunch.
Bob had let the secret slip after one too many Stein Lager.
Oil Dodger, I recon there’s oil there.

I saw off the former president old DC3 at the airfield at dawn.
It spluttered and coughed and bounced it way, kangaroo style down the potholed runway, but amazingly managed to reach its take off speed and climb unsteadily into the wide blue yonder to hopefully return safely with the Dictator and his or her (?) cabinet.
