Hi, just a quick note to let you know that no matter what sites will tell you to have done already, the Chinese may find their own way for you to progress. Getting certification of 'single/unmarried/divorced' status in the U.S A. before going to China may not apply. Have anylegal documents with you. Divorce decree, etc. and be ready to make a trip to the American Consulate nearest you place to proposed marriage. They may require a simple form of authenticity/notorized by the Consulate from your country to go ahead. I did all the things suggested on web sites before leaving the U.S.A. and none were asked for or accepted when I offered them. They were in English and possibly, if they had been translated into Chinese before applying to get married, they may have been accepted. There is not any guarantee of this. It may be a waste of time and money, as I found. Wait and see what they ask for/require. It may vary from day to day and Province to Province. Be ready to go whatever they ask for to make it flow more smoothly. And chances are that you will not get your 'book' and certificates the same day. Maybe four or five days later. This was the case in Liaoning Province. I hope this helps someone. If it helps just one couple, it will be worth my time. Good luck
