Hi there and thanks for reading. About 3 years back I got jailed for running a game in China for about 6 months. I was never deported. During trial judge mention he would not ask for my deportation due to good behavior and repentance. I was told by the cops there I was not deported because I was married to a Chinese citizen and usually they forgive you if you have family there. However, long story short, I got divorced recently. All of these years I have been getting my L VISA (relative visa is also named L) without even having left China. However, now that I am divorced, I went back to my home country to get it. My last L visa has still not expired, but will expire in April. I would like to know the following: Should i tik YES for criminal record or should I tik NO? I been repeatedly told that I should tik NO because they are unlikely to check on that. I know if you have commited a crime abroad, they have no way to check it, but in my case it happened in China. Things to consider: I have never been deported - I have been getting my Visas for the past 3 years normally - My crime was for gambling, which is one of the minor crime cases in China. What is your take? I will be applying for the VISA very soon and would like your opinion. BTW, the reason I am applying is because I got a job back home that will send me to China on a regular basis. This will bring my life back to normalcy. Any good insight and opinion is welcome. Many thanks.
