I have a dui and a felony battery charge for a fight with a guy 9 years ago when i was 19. Record is spotless since. I have read on this forum to just answer "no" in the part where it asks if you have a criminal record. I have also read of people with a criminal record writing "yes" and getting accepted. My question is however now that US citizens you can apply for a 10 year visa as of 2014. Is the 10 year visa process more strenuous than the other visitor Visa's that I believe only lasts for 30-180 days? As in do they look deeper into backgrounds for the 10 year visa? If you answer no do you have to show proof that your conviction is over? I read someone went in and checked yes but had to show proof. My second question is if you are denied a visa for answering no falsely can you reapply and get accepted with the correct information and possibly get accepted? Also is going in person have better results than using a visa service? When you go in person do they just read your application and say yes or no or do you turn in the paperwork and it disappears behind some doors then they come back and approve or deny you? I would like to just get a 10 year visa as I am planning on traveling to china quite frequently to do business and do not want to have to risk getting denied due to having to fill out a visa form every time as there will be more chances of getting denied with more applications.
