WCTMAN, I am also curious about this. However, Sanlu said that some dairy farmers added melamine to the raw milk. I am wondering if Sanlu examines the raw milk carefully. It is easy for Sanlu to know if the farmers added the melamine. They claim that they have 1100 inspection processes. If they couldn't know if there was melamine in the milk powder, there was only one answer----all the inpection processes were useless. Here are some doubts raised by an expert: No.1 Where is the source of the melamine? If infant formula milk was contaminated, what about others? Are they ok? Or they have been contaminated too but haven't been disclosed yet. No.2 Sanlu claimed that it was those illegal dairy farmers who added the melamine in the raw milk just for seeking profits (adding melamine in the milk can make the protein content higher). However, did they examine the raw milk carefully? I can't believe that a giant dairy company couldn't find out if the milk powder was contaminated by melamine. No.3 Where did the "illegal farmers" get melamine? How could they know adding melamine could make protein content appear higher in the milk? No.4 Actually, in the middle of the March, a consumer complained that blood was found in her baby's urine. Sanlu said that they had visited that consumer and required the local inspection bureau to check the milk powder and the result was that the milk was ok. In June, more cases have been found and some victims went to hospital. Then they spent more than a month to find the reason. Finally, they got the conclusion on August 1st that some illegal farmer added melamine in the milk and they were they criminal. However, they didn't disclose this when they found the problem. Recently, more and more babies had kidney stones. Then Sanlu realized that paper couldn't wrap the fire so that they made a declaration that it was the illegal farmers' fault. They have found out the problem. Why didn't they disclose it and solve it immediately? Maybe, they hoped that the problem would disappear by itself. No.5 Sanlu claimed that about 700 tons milk powder had been contaminated. Couldn't believe it! How much fresh milk do they need to make 700 tons milk powder? To get the fresh milk, how many farmers do they need to cooperate with? Maybe, those farmers intrigued together to add melamine in the milk. Was it possible? If those "illegal farmers" knew that adding melamine could make the protein content appear higher when tested, what about other dairy farmers, I mean, those who supply raw milk to Yili, Mengniu, Guangming etc? Do they add melamine in the raw milk? If they do, that is horrible. Even it was those illegal farmers who added melamine in the milk, Sanlu should be responsible for this. Is it a coincidence?
