[quote=EASTCHINASEA,477624]By CCTV reporter Yu Li 09-19-2012 20:59 BJT Special Report:Diaoyu Islands: China’s Inherent Territory | Fourteen Chinese patrol ships entered waters near the Diaoyu Islands on Tuesday to reinforce the country’s sovereignty over the area. The fourteen patrol ships include ten Marine surveillance ships and four fishery administration ships. Their mission is to protect Chinese fishing operations as hundreds of fishing boats head toward the Diaoyu Islands for the first time since a moratorium was lifted. Fleets from the eastern provinces of Zhejiang and Fujian, have resumed fishing operations in waters off the Diaoyu Islands. Many vessels are eagerly waiting to exploit the area’s rich fishing resources. Cai Yongkang, captain of Minshiyu 07202, says, "We usually fish in waters off Northern Taiwan, near the Diaoyu Islands. It’s a rich fishing ground. There are many fish like blue mackerel scad and mackerel." Authorities say more Chinese fishing boats have come to waters around the Diaoyu Islands this year. As of September 18th, more than 20 fishing boats from Zhejiang were operating within 60 nautical miles around Diaoyu Island.
