As of summer 2013 there is subway line 2 to get around to tourist sites

I used subway line 2 to get around and see the sites in xian. Similar to the beijing subway they have an ic card but the majority of my rides was 2 yuan one way. I got a free map from the shuyuan hostel that showed the stops and what was nearby.
Also, there was an extra check at the security stations whenever i had a bottle of liquids they either took the bottle and put it in a machine or made me take a sip the best i could figure is they are looking for molotov cocktails
By the way if you want to book your long distance trips the bus station near the xian railroad station had lon distance tourism buses

What to bring to China

Things to bring:
1. lotion - due to the weather or the cheap brand of soap in the hotel, our skin got so dry and even itchy.
2. chocolate drink sachet like Milo - you cannot find Milo in their groceries. In case you might not like their food, at least you can take something at night.
3. Umbrella or raincoat, thick jackets, etc - even if your tour guide says it's going to be a sunny day. We brought a carry-all bag, and put all these stuffs inside. and leave the bag in the bus if we don't need them.
4. sunblock and chapstick

We have since heard that this deceptive "shipping included" policy is not unusual in China. Be careful- only buy what you can bring home yourself. FYI each person (even your children) in your party can bring home $400 worth of goods, any extra is only 10% duty tax.

One in a million!

Two terracotta wariors outside, but inside the atmosphere of a European restaurant with warm colours and candle light. The Chinese chef has worked in a 5 star Western hotel before and can make excellent traditional Italian pizza's and tiramisu and other dishes as boeuf stroganoff and steak. We were suprised by the great coffee we got served with a small piece of brownie. After eating all the delicious Chinese food, we were looking for something familiair and that's what we certainly found in this place, called after the first book written by Marco Polo: Il Milione. Feeling at home in China for a moment...

Taxi's

I live in Xi'An and have learnt that the safest seat in a taxi is right behind the driver. A large percentage of taxi drivers here would be considered reckless by western standards, but most are not reckless enough to risk their own personal safety, so sitting right behind them makes you as safe as them. In other words, taxi drivers don't mind getting t-boned on the passenger door, which is where you are most likely to sit, but are reluctant to get drilled on their own door. So, sit behind them.
And, always get out of the taxi on the passenger door side.

Indian resturant Delhi Durbar is located very near to Big Goose pagoda.They are reachable through this phone number Tel - 029-85255157.Place looks really good and clean.
I had dinner there it cost me around 48 RMB.Dinner consists of
1)Coke/Beer
2)Starter(Pakoda with Sweet and Spicy Chutnies)
3)3 Plain Nan.
4)Bowl of rice
5)Bowl of Curd
6)Plain Dal
7)Palak Green Peas Masala.
8)Aloo Green Peas Masala.
Lot of variety of Veg/Non Veg food options are available in this resturant.
Even service was good.

Kangfulu Market

Kangfulu Market, located in the Eastern side of the town, is one of the biggest market in Xian.Prices are dead cheap here and you will get good/medium quality of the commodities here.This market is famous for garment shoping.
