i believe "luck", but i believe "balance" more.
i mean, if you find you are lucky now, maybe something unlucky is waiting for you.
and if you think you are the most unfortunate person in the world, maybe you could find some luck tomorrow.
life is balanced.

Hi Lionpower...

Here are my attempts to translate with Wenlin:

不经历风雨怎能见彩虹
Without foundation go through trials and hardships how can you see the rainbow

否极泰来
after deep misfortune comes bliss

I believe in both luck and fate, but I believe we craft both of those by exhibiting "energetic progress in the good" ...a thought that comes from the I Ching, 易经.

Griz, your translation is quite good. For me, I do not believe in luck because I am not a lucky man. I have bought many tickets but I have not won any prize even the consolation prize.

Hi everyone,
I would agree with TORSTENRECKLEBEN, we have the luck that we deserve to have from our actions.

Quote:
"????" sounds like a French expression: "après la pluie, le beau temps". The translation is after the rain comes the sun. That's totally logical and not related to luck: things cannot stay the same forever, that's all.

For what Paul called luck (not the one we build, the other one) I would just talk about coincidence: it comes from the latin: "co" means with and "incido" means to fall in or on, fall in with but also happen, occur: so coincidence means that two events are happening at the same time. To me there is no luck, just profits we didnt expected from what we did or coincidences.

Aya I forgot "and" between with and incidio. Can the webmaster create a modify function for the posts we leave there? Would be really practical. ;)

I think luck is connected to what choises we make and to our expectations. In my opinion there is no such thing as luck. About fate someone has said "You can´t change Your fate but You can influence it" So basicly fate is what we make it to be.
