| GUEST55472 | I appreciate your candor and humor with respect to your comments but more importantly your knowledge. I am a U.S. citizen returning to China to get married and you made the comment that even with marriage it is not a guarantee for me to stay in China with her without the continual hassle of obtaining various visas. I was teaching in China for 4 years but alas, my age caught up to me, and because China will no longer allow you to work after 60 I am not able to obtain a teaching job at a university. I can work outside as a private tutor but now I am wondering if an L visa will allow me to do this. I think you can only work in China with a Z visa. So, two things to do. Research the L visa and what time length it is and whether or not I will be allowed to work with this visa. After my contract at the university was not renewed I stayed in China for an additional 75 days or whatever it was with a visitor visa. Visitor visas are only granted for 30 days now and I was even cut short on this with the renewals. They used to be 90 days but that changed. I guess the money for the visa and the renewals is too tempting to grant a 90 day visa. I have also considered bringing her here but that is more of a hassle than me going to China and marrying her there. I did not realize I would still have to deal with visas after marriage. I will check on the L visa but if you wish to answer me here too, no problem. I understand from your comments England lets you marry and go there with your wife or husband without nearly as much crap as U.S. OK, well thanks for your comments that I have read so far. |
