Leonardo, usually boys buy chocolates for their girlfriend on most occasions. It is rare to see that girls buy Choc for their BF.

have you ever heard of white valentine's day in Asia? Practice goes like that: on Valentine's day (14 Feb) girls give gifts (usually self made chocolates) to their lovers, one month later ie 14 March, on White Day, boys who received chocolates on Valentine's Day return the favour and give gifts to their valentines

No I haven't heard of that one Faeriequeene, it sounds fair enough if it keeps everyone happy.
I'm old fashioned and still believe it's the men that should buy the gifts on Valentine's Day, I'm quite happy just to have my lady's love and respect in return.
I also think it's very romantic that marriage proposals are made on Valentines Day.
