I've visted China numerous times. First time, I declared that I had a criminal conviction. Assualt, Possess, Use and drive under Influence of Heroin, like 6 years previous. I was asked to supply my Police Record, which in Australia took a few days and $50, and since then have never had a problem and have been granted 8 Tourist Visa'a in 8 years. I declare each time

GUEST96164 I have a desire to visit China but I have been charged with Reckless Homicide that involved my dad and he died. I also got setup for payroll forgery. I have spent no more then 4 years in prison for both charges.

I have been doing good for the past 11-12 years can I still enter or will I be turn down?

GUEST04760 You can use the Transit Visa Free method of traveling to China. I have a few misdemeanors that are 20 years old,, so to avoid the embarrassment of explaining them I used the transit Visa Free. In that scenario the DO NOT ask about criminal records. You must at the port of entry provide evidence for payment of hotel room and onward flight within 3 or 6 days, depending on the city. But the great news is, you can visit Beijing for 6 days and see the Great Wall, the Forbidden city and take in the culture. You can then go to a great city like Hong Kong where again you WILL NOT be asked about your criminal record. That I highly recommend if you want to avoid the embarrassment of saying yes to a criminal record. I wish their was some way to apply for rehabilitation to avoid the embarrassment of explaining past stupidity. Unfortunately you have to man up and explain convincingly you're a good person or just go the route where you don't have to explain a criminal record which is Transit Free Visa!

GUESTALLIE I just want all of you to know how Grateful I am for this particular forum. I have an armed robbery which is a class 2 felony, from over 10 years ago and I was really stressed out about whether or not to even apply for a visa or say screw it and just go anyway through a Transit visa. /but in order to do a transit i would have also had to travel to a third country by myself, which was nerve wrecking because I have never traveled internationally before. After reading this forum ( about 30 plus pages of it to be exact) I finally felt confident enough to just risk checking the no box where it asks if you have ever been convicted of a felony. i am happy to say that my visa has been approved and i am about to travel to china for 15 full days and i am super excited. thank you for the advice, ill check back around mid july when i get back from my trip to let you know if everything goes smoothly. but again thank you for giving me the confidence i needed to just Go for it. I am really glad i did.

GUESTGUEST3688 Hello,
My situation is a little different than earlier post in this thread. I am applying for an X2 visa and later my visa will be turned into a Z visa for work. I am afraid if I should check yes or no to the criminal record question. I was arrested 4 years ago for petty theft, and the charges were dropped because I took a diversion course. I am scared if I check no that it might cause problems later when I am converting to a Z visa. My job only requires a local police check, and I was not arrested in the county I am getting the police check in. Should I check yes or no? I think my situation is different because my visa is a work visa. Anyone can help?
