I heard that in Shanghai many have 150-250 guests at the dinner and the cost per person is around 400 RMB. And then there is bribes and cigarettes and fancy car and many more stuff to be paid.

What about the Bride Price? Some Chinese still practice this ancient tradition even though Mao illegalized it in the early 80s.

My fiance and i are getting married here in the uk. We are having a simple ceremony with just 6 friends and close family present. We will have a large party at my home for around 40 people which we will self cater for. I am already paying for a mortgage towards the cost of our house which is jointly owned by my mother. No bribes,no extended extended family just the people that matter. I know that my fiance is absolutely besotted with me as am i with her..... really i think that love conquoers all,even cultural divides. Tiger,just do what your heart tells you and she will be happy just because the man of her dreams is asking :-)
