GUESTIFFANY Taking revenge because of jilted 'love' and aborted relationships happens mostly in Asian / Arabian societies where the girl victims have a strong feeling of "victimization"; hence the urge to get even. Asian movies often have the "revenge" factor in their plots - it is a sad aspect of life. And often it is the men who are bastards.

Agree! Such plots appear very often in Asian movies. What does this reflect? Asian women are very serious about love and relationship? What about western women?

East is east, west is west and never the twain shall meet"

Western society differs from the East like the North and South Poles; one has to study the history and cultural foundations of both to get an insight into the think of Western people.

Just one example:

Seppuku (切腹 "stomach-cutting") is a Japanese ritual suicide originally reserved only for samurai; who voluntarily die with honor rather than fall into the hands of their enemies (Members of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam - LTTE - fighting for an independence homeland in Sri Lanka, carry a cyanide capsule around their necks so that they can swallow and die to avoid capture.)

In the West, committing suicide is a mortal sin in Christianity; and is deemed as a cowardly act.

Even they know suicide is a mortal sin in Christianity, they still commit suicide. As a bystander, we might think that committing suicide is a cowardly act. We are not them and we can't feel the pain that tortures them. For them, suicide is a way-out.
