Hi Ellyse,
need your expertise advise.
I have a nine days tour :
1st day) Reach Hangzhou ;stay Hanzhou.
2nd day) Hungzhou -full day. stay Hangzhou
3rd day) think of departing early to Tungsi or Tangkou, in fact thought of going up to Huangshan straight away. Is it tiring ? if so , can I keep the luggage at the train or bus station ? I am coming in from Hangzhou , by bus better or train ?
4th day) - full day in Huangshan, stay Huangshan.
5th day) - leaving Huangshan to Hongchun and back to Suzhou , in fact I want to go direct to Tongli , is it possible ? or I just have to spend a night in the train.
6th day - Tongli. (if the 5th day I cannot reach Tongli ). stay Tongli
7th day - Tongli to Suzhou. Stay Suzhou
8th day ) - Suzhou . Suzhou to Hangzhou after lunch. stay Hangzhou
9th day) - depart Hangzhou , back to home.

Not too sure , it works good ?
considering myself is age 60 plus , traveling with wife.
Please help to comment .

3rd Day: By bus is better. Buses from Hangzhou to Tunxi or Tangkou are available at Hangzhou West Bus Station. If you want to go up to Huangshan straight way, take the one to Tangkou. The run time is about 3 hours and departure schedule is 0650, 0720, 0800, 0840, 0920, 0950, 1240 and 1440. But I’m afraid there is no place to store the luggage. If I were you, I’ll take the cable car up to the mountain. The hotel you’ll stay in up there usually offer luggage storage service.

5th day: Go directly from Huangshan to Tongli, you need to make a transfer at Suzhou. Maybe you can visit Suzhou first and then Tongli.
You can go from the Huangshan scenic area to downtown Huangshan and then take a train from Huangshan to Suzhou. (Yes, it is a night train and you need to spend the night on it FYI: http://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/ ). There are direct buses from Suzhou Railway station to Tongli.

There are three buses per day from Tongli to Hangzhou. But I’m not clear about the schedule. Maybe you can consult after arrival. If you can not find the bus, you’ll have to go back to Suzhou and then take a bus or train from Suzhou back to Hangzhou.

0650, 0750, 0840, 0930, 1010, 1120, 1230, 1340, 1440, 1540, 1650, 1750. Duration time is about 3.5 hours if go through the high-speed way. After arriving at Hangzhou, you need about 40 minutes to the airport by taxi and much longer time if by bus. Also, a domestic flights usually stops check in 30 minutes before the flight departure while an internationl flight usually stops 45 minutes ahead. You estimate the time by yourself.

Aren't those times the schedule from Tunxi? I have the schedule from the official Tunxi web http://www.huangshan.gov.cn and those times are the ones from Tunxi not Tangkou. Is the schedule from Tangkou the same?

I have also asked at other forums and the schedule someone geve me was: Tangkou to Hangzhou West station depart daily at 0630/1430/1530/1630/1700 (might change during low season), takes 3.5 hours, @RMB100.

It takes about 2-3 hours from Baiyun hotel to Yuping cable car station up on the mountain on foot, more than 10 minutes on the cable car, and then 20 minutes from Ciguangge (lower Yuping cable car station) to Tangkou by car/bus. From Tangkou to Tunxi, it needs about 1 hour. So, I think you can get to Hangzhou the same day if departure early that day. BTW, there is also direct bus from Tangkou to Hangzhou, duration time is about 3 hours.
But if you want an easy tour, you can also stay one night in Tunxi and then head for Hangzhou next day.
