Yangtze River
July 3, 2006 - July 4, 2006

By bus to Wanzhou, then down to Badong by hydrofoil to spend the night and explore the delightful Shennong Stream. Local boat men continue in the tradition of thier forefathers. Today instead of goods of trade these boat trackers pull a cargo of tourists to earn their living. A 'must do' experience and only available on Shennong Stream.

A weekend in little known Luzhou - another delightful city on the Yangtze river in south eastern Sichuan. Famous for it's Bai Jiu 1573 brand and Longan fruit (Euphoria longana).

Xingwen's Geo Parks, Shi Hai (Stone Sea) and Bo Wang Shan, are some of the most spectacular Karst country around and was once the home of the Ancient Bo civilization with their mysterious 'hanging coffins'.

Yibin on the Yangtze retains a remnant of her city walls which were distroyed either during or after the Cultural Revolution. Nearby is the red and green land of Zhu Hai, the Bamboo Sea.

A few days at the beach in sub tropical Beihai is a pleasant way to finish off a summer holiday. Exploring this old fishing port was really interesting.

Three Gorges once again. From Badong via Wushan, Fengjie and Wanzhou on the hydrofoil is a great way to see a couple of the gorges if you're restricted for time. Taking a local boat downstream from Wuxi to Wushan on the Daning River of Lessor Three Gorges gives you a glimpse of river life.

Qianjiang is home to Chongqing's Lessor South Sea, a small lake formed after an earthquake blocked the valley.
