Silk Road
ALLANH | Beijing | 9/13/2008 8:20:39 AM

I'm not a shopper, but I loved the silk road, virtually all a tourist would want. The shopkeepers are very pushy to sell you anything. Don't fall for this. I bought some brand name gear.
If I went back to Beijing, my time would now be spent shopping, with some time visiting places our tour didn't show us. Wangfujing St is very good as with some of the side streets for a tourist to do some shopping.

place to stay in Beijing

The Tian Rui Hotel is about a 3star hotel in South Australia. It is adequate for the tourist. Cleaning is OK, Meals are mostly chinese orientated.
The Hotel is within walking distance to all tourists. Wangfujing St, Tianemen Square, Silk Road and lots of other places. This Hotel has to be one of the best locations to stay at.

Tianamen Square

You must see Tianamen Square at night.
You must see the shopping in Wangfujing Street.
Go early evening (when dark). Try and go in a group (3 or 4)

Crossing a major intersection 1st tme
ALLANH | -General- | 8/28/2008 7:22:10 AM

Crossing a major intersection in China is dangerous to Aussies. Nothing like Australia. Best thing you can do is to virtually attach yourself to a native, watch and see how an intersection works. Then you will be OK
