We have had a fantastic trip to Harbin at this time of year. We arrived on 26th December and stayed in the Holiday Inn City Centre, which is perfectly placed for everything you want to do. It is at the top of the main street and the staff were very helpful. The concierge arranged a free shuttle bus to and from the Ice and Snow World in the evening, which was well worth the trip. Even the cold was worth seeing the amazing sculptures and lights - our children loved it and we did too! There are not heaps of great places to eat, but a good valued pizza/pasta place is Babela's Kitchen, right down near the frozen lake and the small Russian cafe next to KFC at the bottom of main street also.

We visited Polarland and the Tiger Safari Park but were very sad at the state of both of the facilities and care of the animals. They looked in ok condition, but in neither place did they have a very large or interesting place to live in and our children were rather saddened.

This is a perfect time of year to come - during our few days it has clearly got busier and 4 nights was just about the right amount of time.
