I tried a Goan Fish curry and the chicken Vindaloo. Both were ok and better than anything I've been able to create in China. I know it sounds stupid but I brought spices with me which I use with good results in the UK, so the only variable is the vegetables, which are very bland where I live in Shaanxi. However, if I had these in a UK restaurant, I'd never go back. They were on a par with an average supermarket ready meal curry. The chicken was low quality and the fish, not much better. The service wasn't bad and the manager/owner was helpful but not very charming or friendly. My enthusiastic and encouraging remarks were met with deadpan looks. Maybe a bad day for him....who knows.
