In 1937-38, The Japanese decended on the former capital of Nanjing after completely decimating Shanghai. The Japanese thought China would be an easy victory, but met more resistance than expected. When they arrived in Nanjing, the raped and killed more than 300,000 people. A dark time in both Chinese and Japanese history.
