it is so interesting that they can divert a river without modern machinery.

Yes, constructed about 2000 yrs ago and still usable. Wonder at Chinese ancient engineering.
Did they tell you how the Chinese engineers broke up part of the mountain to divert the river ? They apparently applied heat & coldness over a period of time to break part of the mountain - 2000 yrs ago !!
