The rice dumplings are nice and filling to eat. They consist of glutinous rice with fillings of pork,red bean,salty egg, dried shrimps..Yummy.They are made in memory of Chu Yuan (on the fifth day of the fifth month of the chinese calender) an upright minister in exile who drowned himself. The people throws the dumplings into the river so that the fish will eat them, thus they will not eat the minister. The dragon boat festival also commemorates this festival. |
