While claiming  to want to learn to speak English, their performance in the classroom is somewhat lacking in verbal application and involvement. The children just want to have fun. The teenagers seem overburdened by their parents and teachers at the public schools.
    Overall, Chinese people are very friendly and interested in foreigners reasons for living in China. However, they often will confuse foreigners by saying things that are not true, just to appear to be kind. Respecting others feelings and being honest about their commitments are viewed as needing vast improvement. Too many times I have been "stood up" by Chinese people saying one thing and then doing something else entirely. The Chinese culture, in general, needs to be aware that people from America put a high value on respecting others and being honest.
