"Chic" is the French word for fashionable.  It describes something that looks elegant, often tailored, think Chanel, Posh Spice and they are very chic.  It is a little bit snobby though...and uptight.

Flashy is not the same as fashionable.  It's a style of people who wear a lot of jewelry (bling), bright colours, and maybe provocative clothing or very high heels.  Pretty dramatic stuff...

The word fashionable can mean almost anything that's popular, like white wedding dresses, big corporations, moving to big cities, traveling to Europe, etc...
