Schools here require that you have a degree, any university degree, in order to work.  In my experience, having a foreign language teaching certificate carries no weight at all.

Salaries vary by city and / or region, but you can expect somewhere around 5000 rmb / month in most places.  An apartment will usually be included.  There is great latitude in living conditions, depending on your school.  You may be given the keys to a 400,000 rmb apartment or you may live in a teachers dorm attached to the school.

You will likely be paid once a month.  You should bring a couple of months living money to tide you over until your first pay period.  The cost of living is quite low, so a few hundred $US/CDN, as an example, should be plenty in most places ( Beijing and Shanghai require more money ).

Good luck.  There are some great jobs here, and some not so great ones.  Be sure to ask your prospective employer about work visa's and residence permits.  If you are told " no problem, we'll sort that out when you get here, DON'T go any farther with that school.  You must have a valid work visa before you get here.
