I work. I work because my parents raised us to be independent and to be self-reliant, to make it on our own. I work because I don’t want to be a burden to my parents. I work because I am too proud to be on a public charge. I work because it is a good feeling to know that I am a part of something bigger, a workforce, an economy.

I work because I don’t have a rich man who will support me, nor consciously looking for one. I work because I have to live and enjoy life as well. That means I can pay for utility bills and pay my monthly mortgage. On the other hand, that also means I can afford to travel and do the things I love to do. I try to enjoy what I’m doing for a living. My philosophy is, if I’m going to work because it would enable me to do the things I love, then I might as well love it too.

There is a reason why there are laws about work hours, why workers are allowed sick and vacation leaves, and why there are breaks even at work. There is a reason why there are weekends and why the phrase “TGIF or Thank God, it’s Friday” was coined. We all need a break after working hard. It is so that we can just kick back and relax, so we can have the time to smell the flowers. The decision is yours if you want to use them or not. Ever considered about rewarding yourself?

As for me, I work hard but I play hard as well. ;-)
