>>Actually, Federer had many opportunities to win the champion. However, he didn't grasp any. In the second set, Federer once had a lead of 4 to 1. But he wasted many chances and finally lost the second set. To be honest, I was disappointed by his performance. One strange thing was that Federer couldn't deal with Nadal's second serve very well. He lost many points just because of Nadal's second serve. Also he seldom grasps breakpoints to beat Nadal. On contrary, Nadal did very well to break Federer's service. For Federer, his big serves helped him a lot. He won several games just by his big serves. Brilliant. However, I was delighted to see that Federer didn't give up and continued to fight. Although, he lost the first two sets, he still tried to win. And he won the third and the forth sets. Anyway, Federer had tried his best to win the match. Unfortunately, Nadal performed excellently, beating him and winning the title. Roger seemed a little bit sad.<< Very good summary Kevin. You covered all the important points of the match. As you said Federer had many opportunities to go ahead and win the match but he didn't rise to the occasion. The most disappointing for me was his very poor service break record and total unforced error count. As you mentioned, many of his unforced errors occurred when he was receiving second serves from Nadal. Hit these second serves into the middle of the net was just inexcusable. They are symptomatic of mental lapses. He just wasn't as well focused as Nadal was. This has been a recurring problem for Federer for quite some time now. He can get away with it with almost every other player on the tour, but with Nadal he pays the price dearly.
