In big cities in China, the housing price is roaring. Young men have to shoulder big financial pressure to buy real estate. Having a house symbolizes stability and safety. (Notice: Chinese cherished stability and immobility). Owning a house is an advantage for a single man in finding a spouse in big cities.  The hiking house price has led to a new trend in China's big cities: average city-dwellers now prefer having daughters. Traditionally, Chinese people prefers having sons but now  the heavy financial pressure to buy a house (it is almost a necessity of marriage in big cities) makes 'daughters" a jewel for families of average income in big cities. Usually, it is men’s responsibility to buy the real estate before suggesting marriage.
