[quote=WANHU,333543]Dear Soon It's good to visit a distant relative. Most China immigration counters are almost the same except airports and ferry terminals. In Gongbei Immigration, you will mingle with runners who will beat queues (they never learn how to queue), in fact (through my experience) Luohu Immigration is better than Gongbei or Huanggang. I used to queue at GB Immigration Checkpoint for 1 hr just to stamp my passport. If you intend to go by ferry, then go to Fuyong instead of Shekou. From Fuyong you can take a bus to DG. As you would be bringing your mom along, I would strongly suggest you take a bus from HK Airport to DG and pass through Huanggang Immigration Checkpoint. Takes approximately 2 hours. 2) HK is a shopping haven, but hotels and food are too steep for backpackers. You can't find cheaper imitation goods in HK as in mainland China. 3) I think you still retain your initial travel itinerary but skip Macau, too hectic for your mom. Thus maybe: KL--HK--DG--GZ--HK--KL 4) You can either stay in HK for 1 or 2 nights then go to DG or go to DG first and stay in HK on your way back to Malaysia. 5) Plan what you want to do besides visiting a distant ailing relative. Maybe stay longer in GZ, it's an interesting moden-blended old city, lots to offer. Take Pearl River cruise, visit parks, pedestrian shopping malls, etc. 6) Have a nice and memorable trip.
