(...continued) My problem comes in proving finances -- I am as of now still a college student, who will be graduating this December, so I do not yet have a full time job (I am applying to various jobs now -- fingers crossed). I have had a variety of part time jobs in the past, but because I just returned from Japan at the end of August, I don't have a part time job either. For taxes I have always been listed as a dependent for my parents, and although it wouldn't be a problem to change that now, I'm not sure how that affects the process. What I do have however, are very loving and supportive parents, as does my fiance -- I've looked over the Affidavit of Support forms, and it looks like we might have several options. One is the income of other relatives in the household (although I do not live with my parents now, my permanent residence is still listed at my parents' home), and the other is the "Joint Sponsor": would either of these options allow for my parents to financially 'vouch' for my fiance? My father is a veterinarian and my mother is a nurse, so together they have a relatively high income -- is this legally an option? Some input from the experts would be greatly appreciated on this. *sigh*, the hoops we must jump through for love -- and here I always thought relationships were about proving your love and devotion to your partner -- not the government. I just want to add that I've already discussed all of this with my parents, and am fully aware how lucky we are to have such supportive families: even though my fiance and I do not intend to financially rely on our parents whatsoever, it's good to know they have the means and intentions to stand by us. I just hope that's enough for Powers That Be. Any insight the you guys can offer on this would be GREATLY appreciated -- thanks!
