First off, if you ever get to see video of the final half hour of the match, it might not appear to be too dark, but that's because of TV camera technology. They have the ability to make a very dark picture look brighter than it actually is.
The commentators were commenting on how dark it really was there, and not to be fooled by what you were seeing on TV.

One of the reasons the referee didn't suspend the match was because it would have had to have been played the following day and many of the people there would not have been able to attend it.

I really couldn't call it. It still could have gone either way. But I think Federer would have had a better chance
to win, as he seemed to be bothered more by the lighting conditions than Nadal.
Maybe his 27 year old vision isn't as good as Nadal's 22 year old vision?

All I'm saying is that *it is a shame* that such a high quality match was determined in the end, under such poor playing conditions. These players didn't deserve that.
