Predominantly in Iraq the case of the gunfighters being relatively untrained might have been true, but the Taliban in Afghanistan is a different matter. They've been fighting for years, be it the Russians or now us and have gotten pretty good at it. They know how to aim, set up good ambushes and generally play the guerilla warfare game very well. Fortunately, it seems coalition forces have learned something from Vietnam and are fighting a good fight against them, and systems like this will only help.

For specialist missions when long range, maximum accuracy is required then bolt action rifles will be issued, but for the largest part I think the M110 is the most suitable primary issue rifle for snipers for the current combat situations. I'm glad M21s/Accursed M14s were not just reissued.[/quote]
