I just want to share a bad experience which could happen to anyone with newbies to HK. This is the third time I visited HK and it always seem a very safe place to be to me, that is until I went drinking in Wanchai one night and ended up unconscious only after a single pint. I have only threadbare memory of what happened the evening before and woke up half naked in my own hotel room the next afternoon. Needless to say my drink was spiked. I was scared and apart from the stolen money and credit cards to sort out I realised I had to get checked out quick for STD. I did not want to go to any doctors particularly at this time I totally wanted to keep this ordeal to myself, plus it was a Sunday and I did not want to wait till Monday, so I searched the net and luckily found this Western doctor on call service here. A GP from Doctorsdirect came to visit me at my hotel the same afternoon and I was given antibiotics in case I contracted an infection(or infections). I also had a comprehensive STD screening and phew what a relief. I was cleared but the wait for the HIV 3 months test window was agony. Good to say that I just got the all clear now. I still cannot remember what happened, not that I wanted to remember anyway. Of course I have stayed away from drinking in WanChai eversince. The police did even say I was not the first victim there. So keep your wits about!
