The calligraphy is an art. It is amazing. But the characters are already not good idea. Long time ago, when the mankind was illiteral they were a progressive way of writing and education. But today, when we have the opportunity to use phonetic letters (20, 30, 40, 50 or 70, BUT NOW FEW THOUSAND AS THE CHARACTERS!), it is very regressive to lose our young years of the life to learn "pictures". In fact the characters are already UNABLE to be EVEN PICTURES. We can see a tendency to phonetisation. Yes, we still can find some " pictures " (ideograms): 人,花...But today often we can see phonetisation with charachers like: 澳大利亚。。。It is really non-senseble. Therefor a lot of East people invent their own alphabets (Huns, Koreans) or they took some Western (Vietnamese)... And I will type my favourite facts: -A Chinese from some minority as uygurs or tatars is able to start use his letters just for few months. A Han-Chinese even for 20 years still can't read some characters as 篱 and can't write SOMETIMES EVEN simple words as : "脖子"。。。 -Native English speakers have to learn 26 letters. Native Russian speakers have to learn 33 leters. Later they DO NOT LOSE TIME to memorize them and can go on to learn something new - another foreigna language, some science, etc. In the same time Chinese children have to learn more then 8 000 character + LATIN ALPHABET (PINYIN)...It is terrible.
