I have met genuine staff in the same situation tho I admit most were not staying for months at the time but spent as long as necessary to get things done. Also many people work here for local employers on an F visa...not strictly within the rules but officialdom is often aware...such is the way of things in China.

Any questions of insurance should be handled by your employer in accordance with the laws of the country you are employed in.  Tax is also entirely a matter for your home country: you said that you will be paid at home.  I cannot see why your tax situation would change: you are working for a company at home and being sent overseas on project work....but each nation's laws are different.  You should not be liable for Chinese tax etc because you are not employed here.[/quote]
