Also I have heard that they could be limiting the length of this type of visa and restricting the numbers issued in a few months as a way of controlling the numbers of foreigners that enter the country around the time of the Olympics. 
Any advice would be welcome before i approach the PSB as on previous visits I always feel nervous, even though I've done nothing wrong.(Apart from my visa oversight detailed above)
