How do I teach?

I tailor-make loads of funny and interesting games for the children by incorporating all of the new Chinese words. This "tricks" them into learning with joy and excitement. Thus, they remember much more easily and have fun while learning Chinese. We also sing songs, read Chinese stories,  watch videos about the various Chinese festivals, learn how to use chopsticks and do crafts (Chinese lanterns, fans, etc.), role play, "go shopping", etc. My main aim at the lessons is for the children to feel good and to like the language. As it makes them curious and eventually they start exploring on their own. The results are absolutely amazing!
When I teach adults I intend to make the lessons more interactive. We speak most of the time in the target language and even the complete beginner is encouraged to say at least a few words in Chinese. We do role-plays, read dialogues, work on the tones, discuss the "hidden" meaning of the characters and learn about the Chinese culture.

How come I speak Chinese?

This is a really interesting story that began when I was in my final year at school. Back then I was reading the books of Laozi and Confucius. I got absolutely fascinated by the beauty of the Chinese characters that I decided to study Chinese at the University of Plovdiv. I spent my third year at university in China. There I had the chance to become fluent in Chinese and to see and experience the Chinese culture. It was one of the best years in my life and made me once again fall in love with this interesting language. During my studies I started working as a Private Chinese tutor. Then, I worked as an English and Chinese Teacher in a private Montessori nursery in London and for a private Chinese language school. I also teach one to one private lessons in London. This has helped me gain excellent knowledge on how to work with children and teenagers. My online lessons are usually with adults who want to improve their speaking skills.
I hold a B.A. degree in Applied Linguistics English and Chinese. I also have HSK 5 and HSKK certificates.
