BARONTWANGLE I assume you mean 'money is relative' and 'respective countries', if you are really British why is your English so bad? Whilst working in Guangdong in the early 1990s my monthly income approximated to an average Chinese income for a ten-year period. I know that money is relative. Although I have no idea nor do I care how much it costs to fill up one's car with fuel in the UK these days, I am well aware that £70 is what many people in China have to live on per month. If you read my response properly that would be clear. I did not imply that envy should or should not be provoked by money; I implied that it is so. If you are unaware that envy is provoked largely by money or the lifestyle that money can provide then you, yourself, are indeed shortsighted. Now that you mention it, it seems to me that the terms miserable, complaining and unsatisfied could be applied to the way that the Chinese unwillingness to queue is being discussed here. Although I live in Dalian it just so happens that I am working in Saudi at the moment. For the third time. No western expatriate is ever happy to be in Saudi, I even less so as I am parted from my Chinese fiancé who, due to visa restrictions, has had to remain in Dalian. Unfortunately the salary that I command is only rarely on offer in China. What I am happy with is that by putting up with the hardships myself my salary is adequate to relieve the hardships of all my Chinese family and friends. So as I stated in an earlier post, I would prefer to be at home in China and would be happy to put up with a bit of pushing and shoving which is in any case the norm in most regions of the world. As I also posted earlier, if you are bothered about it why don't you travel by taxi? When I was last in Guangzhou last July there did not appear to be a lack of them.
