There were many things, for example at the Sera Monastery, when I entered a temple, I was cought between all those praying people and nomads who walked around a buddha statue for at least three times. There was no other way but getting pushed with them while you hear all their prayers. In the back you heard some deep "om..." prayers of the monks in the front room. The whole temple was filled with incense smoke, it was dark except some broken light through the small windows close to the roof which were covered by red paper - this atmosphere was unbelievable! Everything was so mystic! And than a monk standing in front of the statue, he pulled me closer and put a white welcome scarf around me. He wanted me to participate in their custom like all the other pilgrims. They stood on there knees in front of the buddha and put their heads into a dark hole of the stone platform of the buddha - so did I. It was a black hole, I couldn? see anything and I still don? know what this was good for. But the whole situation was incredible.Or just watching hundreds of monks in their red robes doing some discussion practice was also impressive.Or all the pilgrims who walk around every holy place by going down to the dusty ground, they must be so strong in their belief. And everyone of them, normal people or nomads, they all do some donations for buddha how much or how less money they might have.I remember a little girl at the Drepung monastery, she was so cute, she was heartbreaking! Maybe I still have a picture somewhere. There were so many situations, not all of them fall into my mind right now and still it is difficult to choose the most touching one.
