For centuries, women were trained to be reserved, demure, to be quiet and “to know their place”. Sure, times have changed but this practice is still imbedded in some families even in this day and age. In my opinion, how a woman deals with his man has something to do with how she was raised.

Direct:
Ask yourself. Can you really handle a direct woman? Women who are direct are confident women. They don't beat around the bush. They know what they want and they say it. They speak their minds because they grew up in a family where speaking up is not just tolerated but encouraged. The downside: Confident women tend to scare men away. It takes a special breed of men who can put up with confident women.

Subtle:
Many men like subservient, obedient, demure women. They have these qualities because they were raised to be that way. They were taught to give hints. They know that men have fragile egos and that his ego needs to be stroked most of the time. Are you really expecting a woman who was raised this way to be direct? If she was this way before you met, what makes you think she will change after you’re married?

Scenario:
A guy is smoking beside his girlfriend/wife who doesn’t like smoke/smoking.

Direct:
Man	: What’s wrong? Are you ok?
Woman	: To be honest, I don’t like smoke. It gives me a terrible headache.
Clear enough, isn’t it?

Subtle:
Man	: What’s wrong? Are you ok?
Woman	: No, nothing…
So the man thinks there’s really nothing wrong. -_-

Both women do not like smoking but they have a different approach to letting their men know/feel it.

Women are princesses at heart. This is why princes and knights in fairly tales are popular with the girls. They are drawn to the qualities of the characters: noble, chivalrous, honorable, romantic gentlemen. Women like being in love and being swept off their feet.

But don’t take my word for it. Just because I am a woman doesn’t mean I know all women. Women are different. That is why I have a problem with generalizations. ^_^”
