I once heard the experience that "a Chinese woman would take a bullet for her husband". Here's how I've come to believe this to be true, as I've seen it a number of times. Growing up in the west I have on many occasions seen a woman grab or fall into the arms of her man should a car come a little too close as they're crossing a street, or if she gets spooked by an unforeseen event or occurrence that would cause one's reflexes to seek safety.

In any one of these these instances, and there have been a few (living in China) these past couple of years, my wife, faster than I could blink an eye either got in front of me or pulled me back to safety. Yes, wimpy on my part but I don't have her reflexes and I can also say I've seen this many times before with other Chinese women jumping to protect their loved ones. Any foreigner who's lived in China for any amount of time has seen a granny sporting leopard skin patterned leggings and high heels while expertly zig zagging on a scooter with 2 grand kids in tow. All this to say, is they're fearless, strong and will do anything to protect their the ones they love.

I've never seen anything like this back in Canada.

My Chinese wife is a little bit more as she's studied martial arts since she was a teenager and can take me down in a heartbeat, so, yes, I not only feel loved by this incredibly beautiful woman, but I have a body guard to boot.

All this to say, everyone is different, good and bad anywhere, so take your time and try to see the real person, not just the beauty standing before you.
