Hi, all you guys, I am so excited. You know why. Because of your hesitation, I solemnly declare that this post will be the " Virgin Post" at this board since the "Fashion Board" was officially launched. Haha. ( When I logged in, I found quite a few TCG memembers were online: Travelermike, West, Lion, Kevin). Because of your postponements, here comes my post ( Virgin Post in the officially opened fashion board). Hey guys, don't you want to be first? I have always been trying to be first. Hey, don't take it too serious, I am kidding. Well, forget it. Let's turn to business. Since this 'Fashion Board" is a new-born baby, it needs our joint care with TCG moderators Siva and Christine. Thanks TCG again for opening this board! ( I am partial to Fashion). As a prelude to this board, I want to discuss the notion of fashion with fad-lovers. Oxford Dictionary defines 'Fashion" as "popular style (of clothes, behavior, etc) at a given time or place. According to this definition, can I say that fashion is "short-lived ", only lasts for a given time or period? Can I equate fashion with popularity or unique or being yourself ? Wearing jeans is popular in China. So wearing jeans is fashionable. Punk music was once very fashionable. Is fashion equal to that you can set a trend? Celebrities usually have that power. You don't, me either. Do any other words mean "fashion/fashionable"? Within my poor limited vvocabulary, I can figure out only these few words: Trendy, Faddish, Trend-setter, fad, fashionable, stylish.vogue, modish, swellish, a la mode, dashy, wow does "flashy" count? How do you native-speakers describe that "sb or sth is fashionable"? I am eager to learn these "fad-related" words. I will appreciate if you can help. Thanks in advance. Additionally, what is your understanding of fashion?
