There are 2 glitches that I like to share
In Shanghai, I was staying a a Chinese own hotel (not one of those western chain). On the 3rd or 4th morning, the hotel manager knock at my door and said we have to go to police station because I did not register with them. The web site said "If you live in a hotel, you don’t need to do that because the hotel will do it for you." Now the key is, is it the Hotel's responsibility or it is just a courtesy. I understand very little Mandarin. When I was at the police station, the police seems to say that it is the law and we have broken it. So there will be a fine and the Hotel manager needed to be educated. They went into a interview room. After that the hotel manager came out and said that he has paid a fine of 600 RMB and I need to pay half. I insisted that it is the hotel which fail to do the registration (but I am not sure if it is) and most likely they forgot. The manager said he has to pay out of his own pocket. Just sympathizing his situation, I agree to pay 200 RMB. I asked for the fine receipt and they said that they will email it to me and I am waiting.

Any one can confirm if it is really the hotels responsibility by law ?

The 2nd glitch is minor.
My return flight from Seoul to Hong Kong needs a 2 hr stop over at Shanghai. This time the airport is Hongqiao airport (not PVG). I cannot under Korea, so I do not know if the lady at the check in counter has actually inform the authority that I need to use TWOV option for my transfer. I thought that it is only a 2 hr stop over and that should be quite straight forward.
However, when I was in Hongqiao airport, the 144 hr lane is not that obvious in the Hongqiao airport. I asked and I am not sure if their English is not as good as the staffs in PVG or because the Korean check in did not inform them about my transfer, I have to line up with the rest of the Chinese travelers, not like in PVG that I can go direct to the TWOV counter which almost has no line up. This just takes a lot longer.

The lesson learned here is make sure that the Air line check in inform the authority that you are using TWOV.
