We ´ve been in China in August 2013 for 3 weeks.
After being in Beijing for 6 days, my 6 years old daughter, and my husband, were vey excited about visiting a traditional and ancient  city, so we travelled to Pingyao.

As I said in my previous review in Wang’s Compound, we took the bus at the square in front of the Temple of Confucius to Pingyao. Nearly two hours later, we finally arrived at the Pingyao Railway Station by bus.

Breakfast. There’s nothing like an overnight hard seat train journey to give you a craving for something good to eat, and there’s probably no better place than China to satiate it. The first thing on my mind when I reach Pingyao then, is not the ancient city, but breakfast.

Winter may not be the best time of year to travel in northern China. The low temperatures & resulting smog from coal fires would deter many from travelling at this time of year. But for my wife & I escaping Australia's summer heat, it seemed a good idea when we booked our flights.

A travel back in time, Pingyao…

I am that kind of person that really likes little places, ancient towns, observes nice old people playing cards in a park, and just enjoys the simple things of life. I do not need a huge Great Wall or a Terracotta Army to feel proud of a travelling experience. ... Details
