Budget place to stay in Chengdu
By ALMOND | 10/23/2005 5:42:54 AM
Try Sam's guesthouse if you like. This place provides good service, clean bedrooms, western bathrooms, tour packages, and internet access. (The internet access here is slow though)
You can directly send Sam e-mails to reserve for rooms if you like. He responses pretty quickly, and surely reserves rooms for you. Good luck!

About chinese Tea
By CROBERTO | 8/19/2005 7:36:39 AM
Near Chengdu is Emei City. There you can buy one of the best tea of China: the tea produced by Zhuyeqing Tea Company. The jasmine tea, a kind of the green tea is scented by flowers during the night. Come back to your country with some packs of tea. The China will stay in your mind when you smell the perfume of jasmine flowers. I recommend.

Wow!!! What a place
By BUDDHA | 5/18/2005 12:27:36 AM
To all you travellers out there, this is a place that you must go to. I went during the May Day Holidays, it was crowded, but if you like hiking you can get away from the crowds. Around every corner there was something more beautiful than the last. Lots of waterfalls and lakes so clear that you can see the bottom. The lakes are a vivid blue and aqua. There are also many Tibetan Villages to see along the way. Which is quite interesting. Also I went to a Tibetan Cultural Show in the town at night, which was very interesting and hands on.
So get up off you chair and go now!!
P.S I have been told that the best time to go is autumn. But I still thought it was beautiful in May.

cheap place to stay in Chengdu
By ELCABRON | 2/20/2005 12:24:21 AM
When I went to Chengdu I stayed at the TRAFFIC HOTEL or JIAOTONG FANDIAN (phone: 5451017) which is situated on the riverside of the Jin Jiang next to the Xinanmen Busstation. They offer dormitory for 40 Kuai, which is a nice and clean 3-bed-room. Clean showers and western style toilets. There are cheaper places like the Sams Backpacker Guesthouses 1+2 with prices around 30 Kuai, but during my stay they were crowded, booked out, so I could not check the quality. But the Traffic Hotel convinced me being worth the money! It still is a walk of 15 minutes to the core of downtown but therefore you are close to the busstation leaving for the Big Buddha DaFo in LeShan and the EmeiShan. It is a pitty that a bad stomach stopped me from visiting the DaFo! I will always remeber Chengdu as the place of my worst diarrhea - but the good toilets of the Traffic Hotel were certainly a big help;-)

By ROBINHOOD | 10/31/2004 12:58:30 AM
In china,is very hard to find a licence money exchanger. Normally before I start my trip to china, I will exchange it at home with high rate, deposit it in the bank the next after I arrive in china.

Wu Hua Hai (Five Flower Sea)
By KATE | 9/18/2004 11:20:37 AM
The 5-Flower sea is south of Panda Sea and within walking distance - all located within Jiuzhaigou. The attractive feature of the "sea" (which is actually more like a lake) is the interesting aquatic life and fallen plant parts in the water which creates an impression of an underwater garden.
Another feature is the perfectly reflected image of the mountains and foliage in the lake.

Leshan Giant Buddha
By EASTEFEN | 6/22/2004 11:21:17 AM
The city of Leshan is about 1+ hours from Chengdu. I took the local bus & it was really crowded. There was no fixed schedule as well. As soon as it's full, it leaves. But, there are many buses, about 10-15 mins interval.
The Grand Buddha is quite a sight though you've to tag along huge crowds to get to see it. In my opinion, it's still worth the hassle. Afterall, it's the largest stone Buddha in the world carved over a period of 90 years (731-803AD).
Total Height = 71 m. Head = 14.7 m. Shoulder = 28 m.
