Sour Soup Noodle with Minced Meat
By DAISY | 7/22/2004 5:34:23 PM

It is called Qishan Shaozi Mian in Chinese. Pliable and thin noodle with sour soup and savory minced meat, the feeling couldn't be expressed with words.
The famous restaurant for this noodle is the Yongming Shaozi Noddle Restaurant. And noe it has many branches around Xi'an city. It is very easy for you to find the one near the South Gate.
RMB5 for one bowl.

Ox stomach (Niu Du)
By DAISY | 7/21/2004 2:23:08 PM

To me, Niu Du is the most tasty than baked mutton! Nothing could be compared with the sofe and tender meat dipped with seasoning~~~
Just a little more expensive than barbeque. RMB0.3 for one skewer.

If you enter a Kaorou restaurant, you will find or be recommended by waiter one special pie of Hui minority. Captivating appearance (fried golden exterior, but tender interior!!) and cheap.
RMB2 for one plate.

By DAISY | 7/21/2004 11:32:32 AM

Yes, don't forget to taste Kaorou if you have the chance to visit the Drum Tower and Big Mosque that are close to the Snack Street. And especially in the evening, you will find many foreigners like you there. They are also pulled together by this delicious and cheap food.

Jia Brothers' Restaurant (Jia San Guan Tang Baozi)
By DAISY | 7/19/2004 12:04:03 PM

Still the most famous of the Jia Brothers' restaurants, you'll know you're there when you see the monstrous blue arch over the entrance and a wall festooned with photographs of Xi'an notables -- TV hosts, writers, and musicians. The specialty dish is guantang baozi, with a choice of beef, lamb or "three flavors" -- lamb, mushroom, and prawn. The dumplings have piping-hot soup inside, so let them cool before testing your chopstick skills. This dish is best washed down with ba bao xifan, a sweet rice porridge filled with peanuts, sultanas, hawthorn, and medlar berries.

Hours 7:30am-midnight

Address: Bei Yuan Men

Location: 135m/150 yd. north of Drum Tower, on the east side, Around Town

The most interesting place is the Local Snacks Street(Hui Min Jie) near the Drum Tower, the most famous Muslem snacks street in Xi'an. By DAISY | 7/16/2004 11:19:31 AM

Dumpling dinner
By DAISY | 7/16/2004 10:58:45 AM

This is an experience for the dumpling connoisseur, the flavours, shapes and colours will tempt the palette, while the elegant names and stories attached to each variety are truly amazing. It is no less amazing that a simple way of preparing food has become so very popular and sophisticated that it is now considered to be as much a work of art as a tasty morsel.
