![]() | I am planning a family trip, and after much research I think I finally have something but I would love to hear others opinion before I book it. I'm meeting my family in London, then we are travelling to Taiwan for 3 nights. No choice on this, family friends are there. But is 3 nights too much? Off to Beijing for 3 nights, Xian for 2 nights, Shanghai for 3 nights, then Hong Kong for 2 nights. We are doing this in the beginning of Nov. and that is why I've left out Lhasa (I think the weather will be too if'y for the family in Nov). Please let me know your opinions or any advice!! Thanks! |

![]() | The plan is ok if your flying between each destination. You'll have long enough to visit the tourist attractions, but not long enough to really appreciate each place (in my opinion). Some pretty obvious advice:- In Beijing, don't miss the Great Wall, Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City. The Temple of Heaven was ok, but overrated (IMO). Xi'an, enjoy the city itself around the bell tower in the centre. And obviously the Terracotta warriors. Shanghai is stunning to look at but light on any major attractions. The view from Jinmao tower is excellent (on a clear day), Walking along The Bund is nice (excellent architecture), shopping at the "fake market" was fun. There are museums/art/theatre/live bands(jazz/rock) and lots of entertainment. Hong Kong, i just love this place. Make sure to see the lazer show from Kowloon pier at approx 7:30/8:00, go up to the Peak on the first clear day u have (there arent many), depending on the age of your family there are theme parks/nightlife etc. Great shopping. Hiking. Beaches. Anything you want really. I hope i've been of help. Enjoy your trip. Gaz |

I have never been to HongKong:-( |

![]() | Good advice from CALI, Regarding downtown Xi'an, try some of the Muslim food downtown. It's great. And there are more traditional looking mosques deeper into the muslim quarter, should you be interested. Have a good trip. |
