Cranes & Turtles symbolize long life;

Fish designs mean wealth, because YU (fish) has the same pronunciation with superabundance's Chinese equivalent;

Bat designs mean happiness, for in Chinese Fu as in Bianfu(bat) has the same pronunciation with Fu in Xingfu (happiness);

Dragon & phenix design used to be proprietary to king & queen, later mean later meant "couple";

Deer is LU in Chinese, the same pronunciation with LU (high official position);

Anything else special or are there any differences from those in your culture?

But I heard that when people about to die, the crows gather around their house and "screaming", so people think they are ominous.

Later I heard it's about like: when peopl are about to die, there is a kind of smell emanated from their body, it is the smell attracts the crows.

in western countries many people have superstition !
it's true that the smell of the bodies attract crows, maybe that's why people dont like this bird.

i think superstition depend on ppl's education and culture : here in France some people (old) think it's bad to see a black cat, or the put the bread on the wrong side !!!

it's amazing, but they say it can bring you bad things !

i think they need to see a doctor lol ;-)
