| People in Henan pronounce 中 zhong(3) = okay, and NOT middle like we all know. I will never forget this word. Still remember the time when Li Yang [The Crazy English guy] went to my Luoyang's school and asked me if I learned it [zhong3], I replyed by 专业不中. He couldn't get the meaning, all students LOL :)) To LAOWAIs: learn anything in chinese, sometimes dialects are more useful than the mandarin equivalent. My first time in China, Int'l Airport Pudong, Bank of China, they speak and understand ONLY Shanghai dialect! Let's go back to Laocheng District, Luoyang, Henan. The people selling vegetables and fruits on the market DO NOT really understand more mandarin than a real beginner in chinese. After having visited Dazhong Supermarket and got the real price of the goods you'd better learn the numbers with the local accent. Then you ADD TO YOUR BASKET and SECURELY PROCEED TO CHECK OUT, haha :)) Do you need more examples? |
