Hi,
I'll be coming to BJ in May with two others and I was thinking it would be convienient (at least for a couple of days) to have a car & driver to visit the Great Wall and some other places.

What is the best way to find someone competent and honest? As an example, how much would you expect to pay for a driver for a day trip to Simatai Great Wall?

Hai, i just came back from beijing and we paid about Y90 perperson to Mutianyi/simatai (transportation only), follow a hotel tour better as the price they charge are reasonable.

Or try my friend Helen who lives in Beijing. She can be contacted on yahoo.com.cn|life_helen and she can organise a car for you.

if you are going to visit Beijing in May, you are highly suggested to arrange your holidays in the second part of the month. For during the labour's day in the first part, there will be hills and seas of people abounded in the parks and streets.
as to the trafic fee, i think the most convenient way is to join in a tour group in a travel agency.
the charge is reasonable.
